VTV Jumper Stallion of the Year 2006
Credit where credit is due: After resounding success in breeding and sport, Cellestial was chosen for the "VTV Jumper Stallion of the Year" award in 2006 in Oldenburg. Selection was based on many years of top performances on the course. Cellestial combines elastic gaits with maximum quality in jumping – an ideal technique, bascule and unlimited ability.
When he was five-years old, he was the most successful show jumper of his age group in Germany. In 1999 as well as 2000 he placed in the Final of the Bundeschampionat in classes for show jumpers in Warendorf. By the time he was seven, he had easily fulfilled the requirements for licensing through his own achievements in advanced (S) level. He also often competed internationally: At the 2002 "Sires of the World" in Lanaken, Belgium, he placed among the best with his trainer, Heiko Schmidt. Under Rolf Göran Bengtsson, Cellestial was again on the winners lists in the Final of the 2003 "Sires of the World", at the Euro Classics in Bremen and many other venues. Like practically no other, Cellestial was able to maintain his ideal manner and best technique from the days of tests for young show jumpers right up to international level.
His sire Cantus was one of the very best jumper-makers but left the breeding scene early. The dam's sire Windesi xx was one of the most significant Thoroughbred stallions in North Rhine Westphalia. He was a DLG winner in his breed group.
Further information:
Cellestial's breakthrough in breeding was resounding: His daughter Clementine was the 2004 Champion Mare of the Mecklenburg Elite Broodmare Show. After winning tests for young show jumpers up to medium (M) level, some of his eldest offspring successfully participated in the Bundeschampionat. His son Coco, Vice Bundeschampion 2007, won and placed in advanced (S) level show jumping classes until he was sold to the US. There he was one of the best show jumpers in 2011 with first places in the Grand Prix of Florida and Calgary/Canada. In 2008 a Cellestial daughter named Celesta won a series of tests for young show jumpers and competed in the Bundeschampionat Final, a feat her brother Carimo repeated in 2009. Once again, Cellestial's best advertisement in sport in Germany in 2011 is the jumper mare Cassiopeia with whom Heiko Schmidt won Grand Prix and Nations Cups as well as other competitions. This gray mare has won more than 66,000 Euros so far.
So far, Cellestial has 14 licensed sons, three of which are premium stallions. Two licensed sons that were sold at auctions in 2008 went to the State Studs in Neustadt and Redefin. Chap, licensed in 2006, won the jumping index at his stallion performance test in 2008 and finished as the overall Reserve Champion. In the current German FN's predicted breeding value statistics, Cellestial is one of the most versatile sires in Germany. His breeding value in the dressage index is 118 points and in jumping 154 points which means that he belongs to the top 1 %. In 2011 his offspring (including 20 advanced (S) level horses) brought home more than 300,000 Euros in prizes.
