Main Premium winner 2011
The power of genes sets standards: Destano was the I-a main premium winner at the 2011 Oldenburg Hengsttage in Vechta. After evaluation of his performance record in sport, assessment of his first crop and current physical state, the stallion committee declared him the absolute "Number One" of four and a half-year old stallions in a field of strong competitors that were also presenting their first crops.
Destano is a good-sized stallion with a modern silhouette, correct conformation and the best character. Supple and dynamic, he knows how to put on a first class presentation by showing off his gaits. As expected with such a pedigree, he's highly rideable, very intelligent and eager to learn. He has won tests for young riding horses, was highly placed in classes for young dressage horses and took his 30-day test as well as his 70-day test in Schlieckau where he received outstanding scores for his gaits and rideability.
His sire, Desperados, made an impressive debut as a sire in 2009 at various German licensing venues and then again in 2010 and 2011. After winning the German Dressage Derby in 2010 he stayed on victory road in 2011, winning several international Grand Prix tests with Kristina Sprehe in Rotterdam/Netherlands, Verden, Oldenburg and Stuttgart. Special highlights in breeding are his daughter Doris Day, who became the 2010 Hanoverian Champion Mare and German Champion Mare, and Delany, who took the 2011 Hanoverian Champion Mare title.
Further information:
Destano's special feature is his first class Hanoverian dam line – 749/Eckernförde II (by Erlkönig/Trakehner-Neon-Optimist, etc.) – which is also the origin of such well-known stallions as the famous brothers, Argentan I and II, Downtown (private stallion Netherlands), Hochfein (State Stud Marbach), Labadia (private stallion Thuringa), the Olympic horse Lancet (private stallion Netherlands, Hesse, internationally successful with Imke Schellekens-Bartels/Netherlands and Emma Hindle/Great Britain), Sinclair B (private stallion Bavaria, Rhineland-Pfalz, Turinga) and Western Star (State Stud Celle). They represent this line just like the queen of many broodmare shows and the DLG Champion Mare, Goldlady, whose grandsons, Frenchman I and II, are currently highly popular sires. In Holstein this line is registered with number 8777 and there as well, it is the origin of the first class half-brothers, Calvin Z and the luminous Cantus as well as Lansing, who all became top jumper-makers.
Licensed for Hanover, Oldenburg, Westphalia and Rhineland as well as all Southern German and new German State Verbands.
