A jumper jewel of extra class
Jumper breeding urgently needs more Thoroughbred – and Julio has it! He not only has a good sized frame, brilliant type and was successful on the course for many years – he is noble looking, has an excellent character and a respectable performance record, all of which make him especially attractive. Just being half-Thoroughbred and having a talent for jumping make Julio a rarity among stallions in Germany. Julio achieved the performance record needed for licensing through many first and other places in advanced (S) level show jumping tests.
His sire, the Thoroughbred Julio Mariner xx, already had a reputation as a jumper-maker in the Netherlands before he became available to breeders in Germany via fresh semen. Six of his sons in Germany were licensed: Speyksbosch Nelson, Vatos xx, Schampus xx, Jefferson, Junior Mariner and Julio. The dam's sire Calato is one of the most highly profiled of the Capitol I sons in Holstein breeding. Herbert Blöcker prepared him for the Bundeschampionat for show jumpers and then successfully rode him up to advanced level. With his junior rider, Jennifer Fogh Pedersen, he won the Nordic and Danish Championships as well as Nations Cups with the Danish team. Clausen/Holger Wulschner, Graziana 22/Toni Hassmann, Cöster/Christian Ahlmann and Callistro/Janne-Friederike Meyer are his best known offspring in show jumping. Cöster was the individual and team European Champion in 2003 and was on the bronze medal winning team at the WC in Aachen in 2006. The granddam Doloris is a full sister of the licensed stallions Coronado I and II.
Further information:
The granddam's sire, the gray stallion Corrado I, is a famous personality in Holstein breeding as well as in international show jumping. With Franke Sloothaak in the saddle, he was often a winner, taking first place for example in the Grand Prix of Aachen and Frankfurt, in World Cups and Nations Cups. Julio is a representative of Holstein line 730 b. This line has produced around 90 licensed stallions, including Caletto I, II and III, Carpaccio, Cefalo, Le Grand I, II and III, Lorenzo I and II, Lysander, Raimondo and the licensing winner Merlin as well as the internationally successful show jumper Graziana/Toni Hassmann but also Dr. Josef Neckermann's Olympic dressage horse Venetia, who took team silver and bronze individually in 1972 in Munich.
Licensed for OS-International, Oldenburg, Westphalia and Rhineland as well as all Southern German and new German State Verbands.
