About Fürst Wilhelm

VTV Dressage Stallion of the Year 2017

From insider tip to main sire! In recent years, the large and fascinating Fürst Wilhelm has made numerous headlines. In autumn 2014, the first two sons were licensed in Redefin, including the brilliantly typey reserve winner Fürst William HC, now highly decorated as a state and national champion and already victorious in Intermédiaire I as an eight-year-old under the Danish flag in 2020. The Fürst Wilhelm son Furtwängler was the celebrated top price at the 83rd Autumn Elite Auction in Vechta with 135,000 euro and is now shining in the advanced class in Spain.

Of the 16 licensed sons of Fürst Wilhelm to date, Fair Game stands out in particular. As a former foal price leader (€100,000) and stallion performance test winner, he produced the Westphalian champion stallion in 2020, who was knocked down for €800,000. The Fürst Wilhelm offspring are clearly in the radiant type of their sire and shine with strong movements and optimum rideability values. The oldest Fürst Wilhelm offspring are currently gaining a foothold in the dressage arena in large numbers with their inimitable attitude in the advanced class.

Due to his outstanding successes and his heredity, Fürst Wilhelm was named VTV Dressage Stallion of the Year by the Oldenburg Verband in 2017. He completed the proof of performance required of stallions by qualifying for the Bundeschampionat des Deutschen Dressurpferdes and was victorious up to Intermédiare I under Kristin Biermann.

Fürst Wilhelm's sire Fürst Heinrich was the main premium winner at the 2002 Oldenburg licensing and celebrated World Champion of five-year-old dressage horses in Verden in 2003. He developed into the main sire within a very short time and left behind 53 licensed sons and 73 offspring who were successful in advanced (S) level dressage competitions.

With the new leader of the WBFSH dressage ranking, Sandro Hit, the stamp stallion De Niro and the rideability guarantor Rubinstein I, elite stallions follow like pearls on a string. The fifth dam, the unforgettable Oldenburg champion mare of 1991 Love Story, deserves special mention as she founded a dressage breeding dynasty.

His early retired sire Fürst Heinrich was Champion Stallion 2001 in the 30-day test, Champion Stallion of the four-year-old main premium stallions at the 2002 Oldenburg licensing and celebrated World Champion of five-year-old dressage horses in 2003 in Verden. Within just a few years, he developed into an absolute star sire with almost 50 licensed stallions and over 100 state premium mares. With Van the Man and Fürstenball, he twice produced the Oldenburg Champion Stallion. The dam Lady Scarlett is a daughter of Sandro Hit. He ushered in a new era in dressage horse breeding. He was national champion and world champion of six-year-old dressage horses in 1999 and has been trained up to Grand Prix level. Sandro Hit himself produced several champion stallions in the phalanx of his well over 100 licensed sons. His granddam Lady Devinja produced the licensed stallion Froschkönig with Fürst Heinrich, who was successful at championship level. De Niro, who was the main premium winner in Oldenburg I a, follows in the third generation. De Niro made his successful debut in Grand Prix dressage tests as a seven-year-old and won the Blue Ribbon at the Hamburg Derby and the German Professional Riders' Championships twice under his trainer, riding master Dolf-Dietram Keller. In 2008 he was named "Hanoverian Stallion of the Year" and is currently regarded as the most successful living dressage sire in the world. The great-granddam Lady's Rubin produced the licensed son Dream Catcher with Day Dream. Through Rubinstein I, Pik Bube I, Freiherr, Admiral I, Lavendel and Agram, each subsequent generation has produced a top sire. Fürst Wilhelm descends from the Hanoverian performance family 35/Schonkleid, which is at home in Wendland. This line has been able to gain a lasting foothold in Oldenburg in particular and has produced the licensed stallions Controller (PB Oldbg., Thür.), Dinar (Ldb. Celle), Feinbrand (PB Oldbg., Bawue., NL, USA, 1991 I a main premium), Flagranti, Freytag, Grandezzo (PB Bay.), La Piko S (PB Oldbg., Bay.), Landfürst (Ldb.
