About Bernay

Germany’s next progenitor

A young dressage prospect from one of the most significant dam lines in Rhineland with an impressive silhouette, harmoniously built in a noble look, with perfect basic gaits and, as expected, with first-class rideability values. He is actually a model gifted with a high level of balance and collection ability that is eye-catching for spectators again and again. Corresponding to this high evaluation, in 2014, Bernay passed his 30-day test in Münster-Handorf with clearly above-average results. He completed his performance record by qualifying for the Bundeschampionat of five-year old dressage horses. By now, Bernay revealed himself as a big talent for the Grand Prix de Dressage under Simone Pearce.

Bernays production is of superior quality as well. Numerous foals were awarded a premium in several breeding areas where they were sold for top prices. In 2019 Bernay’s foals were very demanded: Best Choice (dam of Sir Donnerhall I) was auctioned for 30,000€ in Vechta, and Bernsteyn was sold for20,000 € in Münster/Handorf. In 2017, two sons of his very first crop were approved. After the recent approvals in 2018 Bernay is no longer on the verge of fame, but one of the most promising sires of his age. Another seven of his sons were approved, the champion stallion of the approval in Redefin Beau Noir and the 360,000€ price highlight, Westphalian premium stallion Bentaya in Münster/Handorf among them. So, he already made it to establish himself among German sires with 14 licensed sons.

The highly talented sire Boston, who is bred in the Netherlands, had only a short spell of breeding in Germany and was a promising talent in the stable of Isabell Werth, but died already at the age of six unfortunately. Despite of this, he produced ten esteemed licensed sons and highly talented riding horses. Bernay’s dam Lady Leatherdale is full sister of the licensed stallion Lord Leatherdale, who placed with the best up to Inter II-competitions and is sire of Glamourdale, world champion of seven-year-old dressage horses in 2018. The dam's sire Lord Loxley was Bundeschampion and Vice World Champion of young dressage horses and presented several Olympic horses in 2016. With Ferragamo, Anmarsch and Situs truly characterizing classics of Westphalian performance breeding can be found in further generations.
