About Stalypso

International show jumping winner

Stalypso is well-established in the first league of best German sires and certainly the truest to type son of the exceptional jumper-sire Stakkato; over the jump in a class of his own, thereby powerfully moving and harmoniously built – simply a "complete" horse that leaves nothing to be desired. Stalypso stood out of the crowd at the 30-day test in Schlieckau in 2005 and received a whole string of top scores. His jumping-ability even received an outstanding score of 9.88. He completed the requirements for licensing by qualifying for the 2008’ Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. In the meantime, in spite of heavy breeding duties, Stalypso won and placed in international advanced level show jumping. In 2015, he made it to achieve international victories and high placings in grand prixs (such as in Dortmund 2015) under Denis Nielsen.

Due to the first-class presentation of his first crop, Stalypso received the I-a main premium for stallions with emphasis on jumping in Vechta in 2006. In the meantime 15 striking sons have been licensed, including Spitfire Z, Stakkadero, Stakkino, Sugar Ray, Superior, Skelton, Stanton (premium stallion in Verden 2009), Sakrileg (best jumper stallion at the Southern German licensing in Munich 2010, winner of 30-day test in Munich), Stationär (state stud Neustadt/D.), Straviaty (Reserve Champion OS-licensing 2009, I-a main premium 2011) and Stylist (Reserve Champion Mecklenburg, best jumper stallion). Numerous daughters were awarded the state premium. The German FN's predicted breeding value statistics rank him as one of the most versatile sires in Germany. 42 of his offspring are meanwhile successful in upper level jumping classes. The licensed Skelton (FN: Samurai) moved into the top stable of Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and was victorious with her in 2017. Now he succeeds at five-star level under Norwegian flag.

Many of his offspring qualified for the auctions all over Germany, where they were sold for above-average prices (for example 28,000 Euro for a colt in Verden 2006). In 2007, a filly became reserve champion in the „For Pleasure-Ring“ at the German Foal Championship in Lienen. From 2001 to 2012 his sire Stakkato dominated the FN's predicted breeding value statistics for show jumpers, making breeders focus on the Hanoverian Senator line again which had become thin at times. Highly successful in national show jumping competitions under Eva Bitter (2003 and 2010 German Champion in the class for women, 2004 Vice German Champion) as well as internationally, the 1998 Bundeschampion also earned a good reputation in breeding: 70 sons were licensed. His dam, St.Pr.St. Caracalla II, did an excellent job at her broodmare performance test – an 8.0 for rideability and a 9.0 in jumping – and produced several very successful Stakkato offspring. An older full sister of his dam St.Pr.St. Caracalla I, St.Pr.St. Caracalla I, was bred to Stakkato as well which resulted in a licensed stallion named Spaceman (private stallion Netherlands, Westphalia) who has won show jumping classes up to medium (M) level. The dam's sire, Calypso II, adds Holstein bloodlines to the pedigree. He is one of the most influential sires in Germany and his offspring are distinguished not only by outstanding jumping ability but also excellent rideability. The great granddam, Aphrodite, is also the dam of the licensed stallion, Fashion Black (by For Expo 2000), and a dressage horse named Sambuca (by Sherlock Holmes). Decisive impulses for Stalypso's looks came from the State Stud Celle sire, Grand Royal, who is found in the third generation. His masterpiece was certainly Graf Anhalt E (private stallion Saxony-Anhalt), who won his performance tests and later ribbons in advanced (S) level show jumping. In the following generations you find Absatz, Wohlstand and Gouverneur, all performance-makers in Hanoverian breeding. The dam line is based on the mare family 1093/Goldmöwe (by Gouverneur-Feiertag III-Amtsjäger I etc.). This line produced the licensed and successful sport stallion, Eclypso (private stallion Hesse), the successful dressage horses Anklang 19/Dagmar Bartels, Aphrodite 23, Giedeon and Wendemond, all ridden by Annette Heumann, and show jumpers such as Chappelou.

Approved for Westphalia, Hanover, Oldenburg, OS-International, Rhineland, Mecklenburg as well as German Sport Horse, Breeding association for German Horses. Admitted to the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program.
